Mold Abatement and Removal
Allegations of bodily injuries and property damage arising from the presence of toxic mold (fungi) in buildings have resulted in an explosion of litigation across the nation. Plaintiffs in toxic (black) mold litigations are pursuing building owners, property managers, architects and contractors including roofers, plumbers, waterproofers, heating and ventilation and air conditioning contractors. In addition to compensatory damages for bodily injuries and property damages, plaintiffs in toxic (black) mold cases may also be seeking medical monitoring costs and relocation expenses under such causes of action as liability, non-disclosure, negligence, breach of warranty or contract, misrepresentation and mental anguish. Many of these toxic mold cases also involve allegations of construction or design defects as the initial cause or a contributing factor of the mold's presence and growth. Mold (fungi) is present everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold damages any area on which it grows. The longer it grows the more damage it can cause. Usually molds are confined to areas near the source of moisture. To provide a complete assessment of these parameters the Karl Environmental Group program features a multidisciplinary approach. This evaluation design allows for a comprehensive building and area assessment. Common Mold problems can be caused by:
Water damage Temperature and Humidity Dampness
The Karl Environmental Group incorporates protocols from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH); the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The Karl Environmental Group is adept in utilizing applicable and proper sampling techniques to obtain representative field samples. Experienced field personnel, under the direction of a project supervisor, are proficient in the methodologies of various sampling procedures required for each individual toxic (black) mold project.

If a Mold inspection and assessment have been conducted, and it is found that a suspected area is infected with a high mold count level, the area may need a remediation process. The key to a successful remediation project is to first eliminate the moisture, then remove the mold. Our removal techniques incorporate special controls to guard against the spread of mold spores during the process. Dehumidifiers, biocides and HEPA filtered equipment are employed to contain and remove the mold and airborne spores from a work site, a room or an entire building.
Examples of recent workplace evaluations include both reactive and proactive evaluations of multi-story and single tenant buildings for toxic mold. The Karl Environmental Group has worked in the commercial, institutional and residential environments. We are always willing to tailor our services to the specific needs of our clients.
